सभा का शुभारंभ करते हुए जी जी एफ के महासचिव राम मोहन राय ने दीदी निर्मला देशपांडे जी का संक्षिप्त जीवन परिचय देते हुए वर्तमान समय में उनके जीवन ,दर्शन एवम विचार संदेश की प्रासंगिता को प्रस्तुत किया । उन्होंने स्वo दीदी से अपने प्रेरणादायी संबंधों और संपर्क की भी चर्चा की तथा उन्हें विश्व शांति, राष्ट्रीय एकता तथा सांप्रदायिक सौहार्द का अग्रदूत बताया । वर्ष 2009 से ही इस स्मारक व्याख्यान तथा युवा कार्यकर्ताओं को अवार्ड देने की शुरुआत की गई थी जो निरंतर इस रूप में जारी है । आगाज़ ए दोस्ती यात्रा एक ऐसा कार्यक्रम है जो दक्षिण एशियाई देशों के लोगों के बीच पारस्परिक संपर्क एवं सहयोग के लिए उन्होंने शुरू किया था जिसे निरंतर जी जी एफ के नेतृत्व में जारी रखा गया है । गांधी ग्लोबल फैमिली का निर्माण और कार्य दीदी का स्वप्न था जिसे पूरा करना उनके साथियों और अनुयायियों की जिम्मेवारी है ।
स्मारक व्याख्यान के मुख्य विषय "जंग नही अमन चाहिए - इजराइल फिलिस्तीन युद्ध के संदर्भ में" विषय पर अपने विचार रखते हुए प्रसिद्ध राजनीतिक विश्लेषक, कोलकाता विश्वविद्यालय में हिंदी विभाग के पूर्व अध्यक्ष प्रोo जगदीश्वर चतुर्वेदी ने कहा कि यह युद्ध इजराइली क्रूर शासक वर्ग तथा निहत्थे फिलिस्तानी नागरिकों के बीच युद्ध है । अंतर्राष्ट्रीय कानून के उल्लंघन में, दोनों पक्षों के नागरिक ही प्राथमिक शिकार हैं। इससे पहले कि अधिक लोग मारे जाएं, घायल हों, या जीवन भर के लिए आघात सहें, युद्ध बंद हो जाना चाहिए, और इससे पहले कि यह पड़ोसी देशों के लोगों के लिए विनाशकारी परिणामों के साथ और भी अधिक विनाशकारी युद्ध में बदल जाए।
इस युद्ध में कोई सैन्य विजेता नहीं होगा. इज़रायली पीड़ा जितनी भी बुरी हो, फ़िलिस्तीनियों को इसकी सबसे बड़ी कीमत चुकानी पड़ेगी।
ऐसा प्रतीत होता है कि दक्षिणी इज़राइल पर हमास का आक्रमण पूर्ण सऊदी राजशाही और फिलिस्तीनियों की कीमत पर बढ़ती रंगभेद और अलोकतांत्रिक चरम दक्षिणपंथी इजरायली सरकार के बीच संबंधों को सामान्य बनाने के लिए सऊदी-इजरायल-अमेरिकी वार्ता को प्रभावित करने या तोड़फोड़ करने के लिए किया गया है।
1979 के कैंप डेविड समझौते के बाद से, अब 2.1 मिलियन गाजा फिलिस्तीनियों को अलग-थलग कर दिया गया है और 1997 के ओस्लो समझौते के बावजूद, 1967 के बाद से वाशिंगटन, डी.सी. के केवल दोगुने आकार की भूमि की एक गरीब और संसाधनहीन पट्टी में नाकाबंदी के अधीन हैं, अब 3 मिलियन वेस्ट बैंक फ़िलिस्तीनियों को अक्सर नस्लवादी इज़रायली सैन्य कब्ज़ा और बसने वालों की हिंसा का सामना करना पड़ा है।
इज़राइल के तीसरे रैंकिंग जनरल, मतित्याहू पेलेड ने, इज़राइल की 1967 में पूर्वी यरुशलम, गाजा पट्टी, वेस्ट बैंक और गोलान हाइट्स पर विजय के कुछ दिनों बाद इज़राइल की वायु सेना के प्रमुख, एज़र वीज़मैन से बात की। पेलेड ने संकेत दिया कि एक स्वतंत्र फ़िलिस्तीनी राज्य बड़े पैमाने पर इज़राइल की शर्तों पर बनाया जा सकता है। वीज़मैन का उत्तर था “क्या? क्या तुम पागल हो!" एक दशक बाद, इजरायली-पीएलओ वार्ता के अधिक आशावादी दौर में, वालिद खालिदी, जिन्हें कई लोग फिलिस्तीन के संभावित भावी राष्ट्रपति के रूप में देखते थे, ने एक संप्रभु और निहत्थे फिलिस्तीनी राज्य के निर्माण का प्रस्ताव देकर इजरायली सुरक्षा चिंताओं को दूर करने की मांग की।
उन क्षणों ने फिलिस्तीनी और इजरायली लोगों के लिए दो प्रमुख खोए हुए अवसरों को चिह्नित किया।
तब से, इजरायली बस्तियों के विस्तार, उपनिवेशवादी हिंसा और रंगभेदी दीवार के साथ, लगातार इजरायली सरकारों ने एक स्वतंत्र फिलिस्तीनी राज्य के निर्माण की संभावना को खत्म करने की कोशिश की है और वेस्ट बैंक के औपचारिक कब्जे की संभावना को आगे बढ़ाना जारी रखा है। संभावना है कि यह विस्तार और इजरायली बस्तियों का इजरायल की युद्ध-पूर्व 1967 की सीमाओं में एकीकरण, बातचीत के जरिए दो-राज्य शांति समझौते की संभावना को एक खुला प्रश्न छोड़ देता है।
इज़रायली और फ़िलिस्तीन दोनों का इज़रायल-फ़िलिस्तीन की भूमि पर ऐतिहासिक दावा है। प्रत्येक को आत्मनिर्णय और पारस्परिक मान्यता का अधिकार है। जब तक फ़िलिस्तीनियों के मौलिक मानवाधिकारों का सम्मान नहीं किया जाता, तब तक हिंसा का चक्र इज़रायली और फ़िलिस्तीनी लोगों की जान लेना, आघात पहुँचाना और लोगों ने जो बनाया है उसे नष्ट करना जारी रहेगा। हमें तत्काल युद्धविराम का आह्वान करना चाहिए , युद्ध का विस्तार नहीं करने, बंधकों और युद्धबंदियों की रिहाई और अदला-बदली के लिए, और दो-राज्य संकल्प के दृष्टिकोण को पूरा करने या या तो समाप्त करने के लिए सुविधाजनक वार्ता की मांग करता है। एकल, लोकतांत्रिक और संघीकृत इजरायली-फिलिस्तीनी राज्य की स्थापना के साथ रंगभेद प्रणाली।
अवार्ड चयन समिति के अध्यक्ष श्री अशोक कपूर ने प्रोo जगदीश्वर चतुर्वेदी के व्याख्यान के प्रति आभार प्रकट करते हुए उसे अनेक भ्रमों और शंकाओं का समाधान बताया । स्वo निर्मला देशपांडे जी को अपनी श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित करते हुए उन्होंने उन्हे एक ऐसी महिला बताया जो एक महान शांति सैनिक एवम सत्याग्रही थी । उनकी स्मृति में आगाज़ ए दोस्ती अवार्ड के लिए उन्होंने चार नामों की घोषणा की। ये वे नाम है जो विगत अनेक वर्षों से अमन दोस्ती यात्रा में बढ़ चढ़ कर भाग ले कर अपनी प्रतिबद्धता जाहिर करते है ।

1. Emily Dong (Peoples Republic of China) Emily Dong is a member of Saturday Free School and works with a trade union 1199 in Philadelphia, America. She organized a Pan Asia celebration celebrating Rabindranath Tagore and Sun Yat Sen in 2019.
She was one of the organizers commemorating centenary of CPC in Philadelphia and educating people about the history and culture of China. She is a peace activist and has written several articles on peace and democracy.

He was born and raised at the Gandhi Ashram Trust, where he had the opportunity to learn about Mahatma Gandhi and his works. It inspired me to learn more about Gandhiji.
Mahatma Gandhi visited Noakhali from November 7, 1946, to March 2, 1947, to stop communal riots and restore communal harmony among the communities. Gandhiji later left for Bihar to stop another communal riot there. His initiated activities continued in Noakhali until August 14, 1947. Most of the Gandhians left just after the partition of India, leaving only nine Gandhians in Noakhali. They were tortured, taken to jail, and two were brutally killed by the then-Pakistani army and their local collaborators.
Barrister Hemanta Kumar Ghosh donated all of his properties to continue the charitable activities initiated by Gandhiji and his followers. However, the Government of East Pakistan (as Gandhi Ashram was located in East Pakistan) declared all of Barrister Hemanta Kumar Ghosh's landed properties as enemy property and leased them out. The suffering of Gandhians in East Pakistan cannot be described in words.
After the Independence of Bangladesh under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in 1975, a law was initiated by the Government of Bangladesh to revive the Gandhi Ashram. But after the assassination of Bangabandhu, a dark period descended upon Gandhi Ashram once again. Subsequently, a law was enacted for Gandhi Ashram, with representatives from the Government of Bangladesh and the government of India on the Board.
During the Pakistan Period, Gandhiji was entirely omitted from history, and even after the independence of Bangladesh, people had minimal knowledge about Gandhiji and his works.His father initiated a peace campaign program throughout the country, covering more than 1,000 schools, colleges, and universities. The main campaign focused on peace, nonviolence, and communal harmony. He joined that program at a young age, traveling to various places, singing awakening songs, and inspiring my friends and neighbors to join the campaign. It was a highly successful initiative. Since then, he has been working as a volunteer at the Gandhi Ashram Trust in Noakhali, participating in all of the organization's programs.
Recently, the Gandhi Ashram Trust organized a 3-day International Youth Peace Camp -2023 on its campus, where he played a crucial role in organizing the program. It was a very successful and vibrant event.
Currently, even though he is a student, he is actively involved in the activities of the Gandhi Ashram Trust. I have also visited several Gandhi organizations in India, which has greatly enriched my understanding.
He deeply admire Gandhiji and aspire to be part of the Gandhi family in the future.

Before this, He was the former head in School of Humanities and Social Sciences in Raffles University, Neerama in Rajasthan. He has teaching experience of more than Eight years. Randhir Gautam has completed his graduation from Patna University and his post-graduation in Sociology from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He is pursuing PhD from Guru Nanak Dev University (Amritsar).
Randhir Kumar Gautam has mentored hundreds of civil service aspirants, several of whom have been successful. Besides this, he has worked with many NGOs and has done many projects.
He was a chief program coordinator in the Delhi chapter of RAYS Global Foundation, USA, a global non-profit organization. He helped 50 women to be independent.

Dr. Meghna Chandra is a postdoctoral researcher at Loyola University Chicago who researches poverty, housing, and democracy. She is a peace activist who aspires to continue the legacy of the Indian Freedom Struggle and the Civil Rights Movement through education for moral transformation. Meghna was born in Chennai, India and has lived in the United States since she was 3, but stayed connected to her roots through her training in Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music. After finishing doing undergraduate in the US, she returned to India to get an MA in history from Jawaharlal Nehru University. Upon returning to Philadelphia, she became a member of the Saturday Free School for Philosophy and Black Liberation under the leadership of Dr. Anthony Monteiro, which uses the works of W.E.B. Du Bois, James Baldwin, and Martin Luther King Jr. to understand the world to change it. As part of the Free School, Meghna has helped organize conferences and literacy campaigns that teach people about the history of peace, justice, women's liberation, workers' rights, and how the American people can be on the side of humanity. Recently, she helped organize conferences in Chicago celebrating the 125th birth anniversary of Paul Robeson as well as the Revolutionary Nonviolence of Freedom Fighter Reverend James Lawson that involved the Nation of Islam and other community leaders. She hopes to be a professor and educator in the future.
