My memories of the Netherlands remain deeply cherished—pleasant, vibrant, and profoundly touching. Even today, they echo like a gentle melody in my heart. I was fortunate to experience the joyous occasion of King’s Day, the national festival of the Netherlands, and to witness its spirit from close quarters.

The day was a spectacular celebration of color, unity, and collective happiness. Everywhere, there was a sea of orange—the color of national pride. People of all ages—young and old, men and women—were dressed in shades of orange, creating an atmosphere of shared enthusiasm and belonging. To be a part of this tradition, I too bought an orange sweater and wore it while strolling through the lively streets, immersing myself in the festive mood.

During a metro ride, I met a group of cheerful young people who were singing and celebrating with great excitement. Noticing my orange attire, they asked if I had worn it especially for King’s Day. When I told them that I was from India and had come to experience this unique celebration, their joy was heartwarming. They greeted me warmly, shook hands, and extended their best wishes. In that moment, I truly felt that while cultures may differ, the language of the heart is universal.

King’s Day reminded me of the vibrant festivals of India—like Holi, Diwali, and Basant Panchami—where colors, light, and joy come together to celebrate life itself.

However, my journey in the Netherlands was not limited to festivities alone. It was also an opportunity to understand its culture, social awareness, and deep-rooted human values. The Dutch people’s commitment to environmental conservation, their disciplined lifestyle, and their sense of social responsibility are truly admirable. Their remarkable foresight in water management—developed centuries ago to prevent floods—stands as a testament to their wisdom and innovation.

I also had the opportunity to visit schools and observe their education system. The emphasis on curiosity, independent thinking, and practical knowledge was clearly evident. It is an education system that not only imparts knowledge but also shapes character and nurtures well-rounded individuals.

What impressed me most was the warmth and inclusiveness of Dutch society. There was a complete absence of discrimination based on race, color, or nationality. This spirit truly reflects the ancient Indian ideal of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”—the world is one family.

One of the most memorable moments of my journey was meeting an 80-year-old lady, the landlady of my son’s residence. When I addressed her as my sister, she was deeply moved and embraced me warmly. That moment of pure human connection transcended all boundaries and left a lasting impression on my heart.

Another special memory was my meeting in Delhi with the Dutch Ambassador, Marisa Gerards. Her warmth, simplicity, and gracious hospitality left a deep impression on me. Our interaction was not merely diplomatic—it reflected a genuine respect for Indian culture and a shared sense of human connection. It strengthened my belief that relationships between nations are built not only on policies but also on mutual understanding and warmth.

So deeply was I inspired by my experiences that I documented them in my book “Suhana Safar” (A Beautiful Journey), the second part of which has also been published. It is not just a travelogue, but a collection of emotions, experiences, and cultural reflections.

In conclusion, the Netherlands is not merely a destination for tourism; for Indians like us, it is a place to learn, to connect, and to embrace universal human values.

नीदरलैंड की स्मृतियाँ मेरे मन में आज भी एक मधुर संगीत की तरह गूंजती हैं—सुखद, जीवंत और गहराई से स्पर्श करने वाली। हाल ही में मन में वे दृश्य फिर से ताज़ा हो उठे, जब मुझे किंग्स डे के उल्लासपूर्ण अवसर पर वहाँ रहने और उस अद्भुत वातावरण को करीब से अनुभव करने का सौभाग्य मिला था।

वह दिन मानो रंगों, उमंग और सामूहिक आनंद का उत्सव था। चारों ओर केवल एक ही रंग की छटा थी—संतरी (ऑरेंज)। छोटे-बड़े, वृद्ध-युवा, स्त्री-पुरुष—हर कोई इस रंग में रँगा हुआ था, जैसे पूरा देश एक ही भाव में, एक ही उत्साह में डूबा हो। मैंने भी उस परंपरा का हिस्सा बनते हुए एक ऑरेंज स्वेटर खरीदा और उसे पहनकर शहर की सड़कों पर निकल पड़ा। वह अनुभव केवल देखने का नहीं, बल्कि उसमें घुल जाने का था।

मेट्रो में कुछ युवाओं से भेंट हुई। वे उल्लास से भरे हुए थे, गीत गा रहे थे और इस पर्व का आनंद ले रहे थे। उन्होंने उत्सुकता से मुझसे पूछा कि क्या मैंने भी यह ऑरेंज परिधान विशेष रूप से इस अवसर के लिए पहना है। जब मैंने उन्हें बताया कि मैं एक भारतीय हूँ और इस पर्व को अनुभव करने के लिए यहाँ आया हूँ, तो उनकी प्रसन्नता का ठिकाना न रहा। उन्होंने उत्साहपूर्वक मेरा स्वागत किया, हाथ मिलाए और मुझे शुभकामनाएँ दीं। उस क्षण मुझे लगा कि संस्कृतियाँ भले ही भिन्न हों, पर हृदयों की भाषा एक ही होती है।

यह उत्सव मुझे भारत के होली, दीवाली और बसंत पंचमी जैसे पर्वों की याद दिलाता है—जहाँ रंग, प्रकाश और उल्लास मिलकर जीवन को उत्सव बना देते हैं।

नीदरलैंड की यह यात्रा केवल एक पर्व तक सीमित नहीं थी; यह वहाँ की संस्कृति, सामाजिक चेतना और मानवीय मूल्यों को समझने का भी अवसर बनी। वहाँ के लोगों में पर्यावरण के प्रति सजगता, जीवन के प्रति अनुशासन और समाज के प्रति उत्तरदायित्व स्पष्ट रूप से दिखाई देता है। विशेष रूप से जल प्रबंधन के क्षेत्र में उनकी दूरदर्शिता अद्भुत है—सदियों पूर्व ही उन्होंने बाढ़ जैसी आपदाओं से निपटने के प्रभावी उपाय विकसित कर लिए थे।

मुझे वहाँ के विद्यालयों में जाने और उनकी शिक्षा व्यवस्था को समझने का भी अवसर मिला। विद्यार्थियों में जिज्ञासा, स्वतंत्र सोच और व्यवहारिक ज्ञान की झलक स्पष्ट थी। यह शिक्षा प्रणाली न केवल ज्ञान देती है, बल्कि व्यक्तित्व का समग्र विकास भी करती है—जो किसी भी समाज की प्रगति का आधार है।

नीदरलैंड की एक और विशेषता जिसने मुझे गहराई से प्रभावित किया, वह है वहाँ के लोगों का सहज, सौम्य और भेदभावरहित व्यवहार। जाति, रंग या राष्ट्रीयता के आधार पर कोई भेदभाव नहीं—यह भावना वास्तव में “वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम्” के आदर्श को साकार करती है।

इसी क्रम में, दिल्ली में नीदरलैंड की राजदूत Marisa Gerards से हुई मेरी मुलाकात भी अत्यंत स्मरणीय रही। उनका स्नेहपूर्ण व्यवहार, सरलता और आत्मीयता ने मुझे गहराई से प्रभावित किया। उन्होंने जिस गर्मजोशी के साथ संवाद किया, वह केवल कूटनीतिक शिष्टाचार नहीं, बल्कि भारतीय संस्कृति के प्रति सम्मान और मानवीय जुड़ाव का परिचायक था। उस भेंट ने मेरे मन में यह विश्वास और दृढ़ किया कि देशों के बीच संबंध केवल औपचारिक नहीं, बल्कि भावनात्मक भी हो सकते हैं।

इस यात्रा के दौरान एक अत्यंत भावुक अनुभव भी हुआ। एक 80 वर्षीय वृद्ध महिला से भेंट हुई, जो मेरे पुत्र के निवास स्थान की मकान-मालकिन थीं। जब मैंने उन्हें बहन कहकर संबोधित किया, तो वे भावविभोर हो उठीं। उन्होंने मुझे गले लगा लिया—वह क्षण मानवीय स्नेह और आत्मीयता का जीवंत उदाहरण बन गया।

नीदरलैंड की इस यात्रा ने मुझे इतना प्रभावित किया कि मैंने अपने अनुभवों को शब्दों में पिरोते हुए “सुहाना सफ़र” नामक पुस्तक लिखी, जिसकी दूसरी कड़ी भी प्रकाशित हो चुकी है। यह केवल यात्रा-वृत्तांत नहीं, बल्कि भावनाओं, अनुभवों और संस्कृतियों का संगम है।

अंततः मैं यही कहूँगा कि नीदरलैंड हमारे जैसे भारतीयों के लिए केवल एक पर्यटन स्थल नहीं, बल्कि सीखने, समझने और मानवीय मूल्यों को आत्मसात करने का एक प्रेरणादायक केंद्र है।

किंग्स डे के इस पावन अवसर पर मैं वहाँ के समस्त नागरिकों को हार्दिक बधाई और उनके उज्ज्वल भविष्य के लिए मंगलकामनाएँ प्रेषित करता हूँ।

वास्तव में, यह यात्रा केवल एक देश की नहीं, बल्कि मानवता के उस भाव की यात्रा थी, जहाँ पूरी धरती एक परिवार बन जाती है।
